What is lifestyle photography?
Lifestyle photography, I would argue, is quickly becoming the most popular form of photography for parents and families. Personally it is my favourite type of photography and here's why...
1. It's natural!
It's natural in the sense that the aim of the session is to capture natural emotions and expressions of people and their loved ones.
2. It's not posed... but it actually kind of is.
Lifestyle is not documentary. Documentary is something that I associate with journalism, which is factual and accurate for the moment that is being shot. Lifestyle requires a bit of assistance to capture those natural moments. You will be told to hug and kiss each other, or throw your children in the air, to move closer to one another to sit in a certain formation... THEN the natural moments happen. Trust me, it just works!
3. You don't have to pray for better behaved children!
Another massive positive especially when working with children (and pets) is that I WANT them to be children, admittedly it would be great if they sat still for a couple of grandparent-worthy shots, but if not who cares?! I like to capture them running around, rough and tum Want to add a caption to this image? Capture who they ARE not what their faces look like when forcing a smile.
4. Come as you are.
You don't need to spend hours getting glamorous. With lifestyle photography the attention is on the emotion and the connection not how perfect your hair and makeup are. You can just be you. If a photography session is the perfect excuse to get your hair and nails done then that's is fantastic. But I want you to be comfortable in your own skin, often the beauty in the images is seeing how glorious you are as a mother!
Tap the heart if you think this would suit you and your family.
